The journey of man - wędrówka człowieka

Kilka dni temu ponownie po latach wpadła mi w rękę fenomenalna książka i dokumentalny film Spencera Wells ' The Journey of Man - A Genetic Odyssey'.

Recently after many years I re-discovered this amazing book and the documentary by Spencer Wells - ' The Journey of Man - A Genetic Odyssey'. At present Spencer Wells is an explorer-in-residence at the National Geographic Society and a professor at Cornell University.
When I first read the book and watched the documentary 10 years ago both made a lasting impact on me.
And now after years, the message of the book and the documentary speaks to my heart even more profoundly. The message that in the end we all sisters and brothers and descendants of the same ancestors from before 2000+ generations. Wherever we live today, whatever is our skin color, whatever is our appearance, whatever language we speak, whatever are our beliefs or our religions or no religions at all - we have common ancestors. Our ancestors were very brave individuals that left their homeland in the south of Africa during the Ice Age and embarked on the journey north that started this amazing odyssey of generations of humans. This journey is a testimony of unbelievable human spirit, survival skills and adaptation to the environment.

The story of this odyssey of human generations speaks to my heart and strengthens me in my complete belief in tolerance and respect for others. It proves to me that we are all connected by a deep link that does not know borders, nor language barriers, nor differences in our religions, nor differences in our appearance.

And to all those folks that are still stuck in racism, or nationalism, or any other similarly divisive -isms..  I would like shout loud ... 'Yes .. you  imagine that you and I, and each and single one of us .. we are all Africans .. because we are .. period'
